Criteria For Egg Donors:
Dogus IVF Fertility Clinic in Cyprus has a wide list of healthy young egg donors. Donors are under 30 years old, with an average age of 25. A specialized medical team evaluates and approves each donor. All donors undergo complete medical screening and genetic testing.
Donors are prepared exclusively for each recipient, and approximately 12 eggs are collected per cycle. We guarantee a minimum of 10 eggs for each egg donation cycle.
The physical characteristics of the egg donors — such as skin color, eye color, hair color, body type, ethnicity and blood type — are matched as closely as possible with the recipient couple.
Tests Evaluated From Donors:
Donors are screened for infectious diseases including HIV, Hepatitis B and C, Cytomegalovirus, Syphilis, Chlamydia and genetic conditions such as Karyotype analysis, Cystic Fibrosis, Phenylketonuria (PKU). They are also screened for Thalassemia, Haemophilia A and B, Familial Mediterranean Fever and Sickle Cell Anemia where applicable.
Regular donor screening is repeated every two months. Treatment with the donor begins before the recipient arrives to ensure eggs are ready for the procedure.
Criteria For Egg Recipients:
We accept women up to the age of 55. Patients may be married, in a relationship or single.
Tests Evaluated From Recipients:
Both partners are evaluated to determine suitability for egg donation treatment.
- Blood tests: HbsAg, Anti-HCV, Anti-HBC total, HIV, VDRL
- Blood type and Rh factor
- TSH, T3, T4
- Glucose test
- CBC (Complete Blood Count)
- Urea, SGOT, SGPT
- FSH, LH, E2, PRL, AMH
The male partner must also undergo:
- Semen analysis
- Blood type and Rh factor
- Blood screening tests
How To Apply For Egg Donation:

Contact us by phone (+905428656438 WhatsApp & Viber) or e-mail (zeina@cyprusivf.co.uk). You will be guided by Patient Coordinator Zeina Muhareb under the supervision of Infertility Specialist Dr. Şevket Alptürk.
Step 2: Selection of a Suitable Donor
The recipient provides personal characteristics and medical details. The team selects the most suitable donor based on:
- Nationality
- Skin color
- Eye color
- Height
- Weight
- Hair
- Education
After receiving test results, a personalized treatment schedule is prepared. Patients may be monitored by their own doctor or by a clinic recommended by our team. Medication instructions can also be provided for home preparation.
Duration Of The Preparation For The Egg Donor:
The donor’s and recipient’s cycles are synchronized using birth control pills and hormone injections. Follicle-stimulating hormones (FSH) stimulate egg production. Donors are monitored with blood tests and ultrasound scans.
With a fresh cycle, success rates may reach approximately 80%. Egg donation allows women even beyond menopause to achieve pregnancy.
Cycle Of Egg Donation:
The recipient starts estrogen treatment to prepare the uterine lining. On the day of egg retrieval, the partner’s sperm is collected and fertilization is performed using the ICSI method.
Embryos are cultured for 3–5 days before transfer. Hormonal support continues after transfer. A pregnancy test (ßHCG) is performed 12 days later.
Surplus embryos may be frozen for future use.
Embryo Transfer:
The embryo transfer is a simple and usually painless procedure. A full bladder is recommended to improve ultrasound visualization. The embryologist provides detailed information about embryo quality before transfer.

IVF and Egg Donation in Cyprus
Egg donation, also referred to as Egg Donation IVF (IVF-ED), is an in vitro fertilization method chosen by patients who are unable to conceive using their own eggs. As the eggs come from young and healthy women and are fresh (never frozen), our success rate exceeds 70%. The procedure is performed without any waiting time and with no age limit at our center, making it the best option for egg donation abroad.
When is egg donation appropriate?
For patients who have never menstruated but whose uterine lining is deemed healthy,
For menopausal women due to reasons such as damage to the ovaries caused by radiotherapy or chemotherapy, surgical removal of ovaries, or unknown causes,
For women from whom no or very few eggs were retrieved in previous IVF attempts,
For patients with FSH levels of 15 or higher on the 3rd day of their cycle,
For women with several unsuccessful IVF attempts due to poor egg quality,
For patients who have had ovarian tissue loss from procedures like ovarian cyst surgery,
In cases of inherited genetic conditions in the family.
Donor Selection Criteria for Egg Donation
Our egg donors are carefully selected from our donor database, in perfect health, and aged between 20-29.
Preference is given to donors who have already had healthy children.
Donors are tested for infectious diseases (HIV, hepatitis B and C, CMV, syphilis, chlamydia), genetic diseases (karyotype analysis and cystic fibrosis screening), blood type, and RH status. For specific ethnicities, thalassemia and sickle cell are also checked. All donors are young, healthy, and fertile.
During donor selection, physical characteristics such as skin tone, eye color, hair color, and body type are matched as closely as possible to the recipient couple. Ethnicity, blood type, and technical criteria are also considered.
Pre-treatment Tests and Information for Egg Donation
For the Woman:
Blood tests on day 2 or 3 of the menstrual cycle while fasting:
FSH, LH, E2, PRL, AMH, thyroid function (TSH, T3, T4), fasting blood sugar, full blood count, blood group, urea, liver function (SGOT, SGPT), serology (HBsAg, Anti-HCV, HIV)Pap smear
Pelvic ultrasound or HSG (hysterosalpingography)
For patients over 45: cardiologist and general practitioner or gynecologist’s letter confirming fitness for pregnancy
Date of last menstrual period, cycle regularity, preferred treatment month, donor matching info: weight, height, occupation, and 2–3 photographs
For the Man:
Sperm analysis (after 3 days of abstinence)
Blood test: serology (HBsAg, Anti-HCV, HIV)
Egg Transfer and Pregnancy
To synchronize the menstrual cycles of the egg donor and recipient, birth control pills are used. When the donor begins ovarian stimulation, the recipient starts taking estrogen (on the second day of her period) to thicken the uterine lining. This can be done in her home country using tablets (e.g., Provames) for about 12 days. After this preparation, the patient travels to Cyprus.
On the day of the donor’s egg retrieval, the recipient’s partner provides a sperm sample, and IVF-ICSI is performed. The recipient also starts vaginal progesterone on the same day. 3–5 days later (typically Day 5, blastocyst stage), 2–3 embryos (max 4) are transferred into the uterus. The treatment in Cyprus takes 7 days.
Twelve days after the transfer, a blood test is done to detect ßHCG and confirm pregnancy. Progesterone continues for 3 months, and estrogen for 2 months.
At Dogus Fertility Clinic, one donor is assigned exclusively to one recipient and is prepared in sync with her. We do not use vitrified (frozen) eggs. Except in rare recipient-related cases, we perform Day 5 blastocyst transfers, selecting the best-quality embryos for the highest implantation success. Any surplus embryos can be vitrified for future use if desired.
Embryo Vitrification in Egg Donation Treatment
Excess embryos from the egg donation cycle can be frozen. This is a key decision in your treatment. It allows for a future sibling with the same genetic background or another attempt if the first does not result in pregnancy. Frozen embryo transfer costs are about one-third of a full IVF cycle. This service comes with an additional fee.
Gender Selection
As an optional service, Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) allows you to choose the gender of your embryo(s). You may transfer a boy, a girl, both, or your preferred combination.
Success Rates for Egg Donation by Country
Countries using anonymous healthy donors: 40–45% success (Argentina, Belgium, USA)
Countries using donors without children: 30–37% (Israel, UK, India)
Some European countries (e.g., Italy, Germany) legally prohibit egg donation
Countries using donors under 30 with frozen eggs: 60% (Greece, Spain, Czech Republic)
In Cyprus, donors are young (under 30), healthy, and rigorously selected. At Dogus, the donor (average age: 25) is prepared specifically and exclusively for the recipient. Eggs are never frozen or shared. Success rates reach 85% for recipients aged 20–29 and 75% for ages 30–34.
Benefits and Risks of Egg Donation
In experienced clinics, clinical pregnancy rates for egg donation reach 75%. In general, egg donation has higher success rates compared to IVF with the woman’s own eggs. It can be an alternative to adoption: half the embryo’s genetic material comes from the couple, and the woman provides the environment for fetal development, increasing the chance of a healthier baby. She experiences the pregnancy and develops a stronger bond with the baby during gestation and breastfeeding—making this route preferable to adoption.
Apart from general IVF risks, 15–20% of pregnancies from donor cycles end in miscarriage, and 20–25% result in multiple pregnancies.
